Automotive Pre-Trade

This course provides an excellent foundation for those students that are focused on becoming skilled and highly trained technicians. As well as covering the industry recognised Pre-Trade qualification the course covers 86 credits at level 3 which allows students to earn NCEA level 3.

As well as a passion for the motor industry prospective students will need to demonstrate that they have the necessary literacy and numeracy skills required to complete the course. Typically for students under 19 this will mean achievement at NCEA level 2 and for those over 20 years achievement at NCEA level 1 as a minimum.

If you are a first-time tertiary learner, you may be able to get up to $12,000 of your fees covered for one year’s study or two years’ training. If you are eligible, we’ll organise payment with the Tertiary Education Commission.

Check if you are eligible by visiting FeesFree.govt.nz.

Students who have not yet completed NCEA level 2 or who have completed level 2 through Youth Guarantee may be eligible for fees free Youth Guarantee.
